Transparent Radiation. June 2017. On a road trip along Spain’s dramatic northern coast, we encountered a galerna —a heavy wind and rain storm typical of the Cantabric Sea. We drove west to east for several days, almost purposely getting caught by sudden downpours and swollen by rough waves. This caused damage to some of the already-exposed 35mm film. Other effects were deliberate, as a few of the rolls had been soaked in the Atlantic Ocean before departure.
